Meet the maker

My name is Christopher James. I’m a sculptural artist drawn to the form, rhythm, and quiet power of natural spaces.

My work is rooted in a search for stillness — a way of slowing down and paying attention. In a world that often feels rushed and overloaded, I find clarity in nature. I draw inspiration from water lines, riverbeds, and shadows on bark — subtle reminders of the beauty that exists beyond language. Each piece is hand-crafted from carefully selected materials, every one carrying its own personality and story.

All of my work begins with intention, but I let intuition do most of the heavy lifting. I’m not chasing perfection — I’m looking to create something that feels alive, calm, and quietly grounding.

I think of these works as companions to lived spaces. They’re meant to be lived with — touched by light, felt in passing, offering a quiet sense of contemplation to the people around them.

I work out of my home studio in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Thank you for being here. If something in the work speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you.
